Interesting fact

Cave is located at an altitude of 13500 feet and the cave itself is 100 feet long and 150 feet wide.

Weather

It is frozen throughout the year, in summers glaciers melt, temperature ranges from 15°C to 29°C in summers.

Best routes

Baltal to Amarnath- 14km from the cave and though the distance is less, the terrain and the route is quite difficult.

Extra Precautions

Start at least 4 to 5 km of morning or evening walk every day, start doing yoga, Pranayam, Trekking shoes with laces should be worn

Significance of yatra

It is believed that in this cave Lord Shiva narrated Amar Katha, a story to gain immortality to Goddess Parvati and he wanted to keep it a secret.
