Another interesting activity of Dashain is the setting of the Linge Ping, a high wooden swing in an open space. It is created in the shape of Shivling and people ensure that they do not leave the ground without swinging on it.

Dashain Festival – 2024 Date

The festival will begin on the 3rd of October with Ghatasthapana and Phulpati occurring on the 7th day, i.e., the 10th of October 2024.

Maha Ashtami and Navami will be celebrated the next day, i.e., the 11th of October. This event ends with Vijayadashami 2024 on the 12th.

Vijayadashami Festival 2024: Is It Different from Dashain Festival of Nepal?

Vijayadashami or Dussehra is a grand festival and celebrates Ram Ji’s win over Ravana. It is always celebrated with love and fervour on the 10th day of Navaratri, i.e., right after Navami Puja. The festival is celebrated lavishly across India and elsewhere. Regardless of where you are headed, you can feel the joy and zeal of burning the Ravana caricatures on people’s faces. Everyone has different beliefs regarding the festival, but each eventually leads to a single result: the win of good over bad.

According to Ramayana, the festival is celebrated on the day Ram Ji defeated Ravana in the grand battle and brought Sita Mata back to Ayodhya.

According to Mahabharata (the world’s largest epic), Vijayadashami marks the celebration of Arjun’s victory over the Kaurava army. Devotees across East India commence this day with Durga Puja, beginning on Navratri.

Vijayadashami or Dussehra will be celebrated on the 12th of October this year, i.e., the 10th day of Navratri. Diwali occurs exactly 20 days after it which makes this festival more exciting.
